A Lenten Rose

A Lenten Rose

A Lenten Rose isn't a rose at all. These striking hellabores with beautiful leaves are called "Lenten Roses" for they bloom during the season of Lent. (Lent is the 40 day period many Christians observe before Easter)

Given we're in the season of Lent and the beauty of this design (GG Designs), I'm remembering a conversation with Stephanie Rzonca from Spellbound Stitchery in season one of Needlepoint Scoop. Whether we were stitching an ornament for a friend that was in needed of an organ transplant, or stitching a baby sign for a new baby, we found the peace and quiet of needlepoint an avenue for prayer.

No matter your faith traditions, if any, I believe we all can agree that we benefit greatly from the mindfulness and peace needlepoint cultivates.
