a perfect weekend project

a perfect weekend project

There are many wonderful needlepoint designers that have created and are creating spectacular work that I can't wait to share with you. I'm so thrilled to have the opportunity to make some of these designs available to you here at Mary Katherine Needlepoint. Over the next weeks and months we will be adding some of my favorite designs from my favorite designers to our shop!  I cannot wait!

The first artist that I'm thrilled to welcome is Kathy Tarman. Kathy Tarman is the owner/artist at DogGrin Design. DogGrin Design is a mixed fiber arts company that makes functional art to enhance everyday life. When I first saw her work, I was blown away at the attention to detail, quality, craftsmanship and the sheer brilliance of her concept! And who doesn't love dogs and needlepoint? I sure do! These self-finishing dog collars are brilliant and beautiful. I love them, and I know you and your pups will too.

How does one stitch and finish a DogGrin Design dog collar?

Well...
First you will need to get the backing flap out of your way. We will include a few fabric clips in your order to help with this!
Then, stitch the collars in any color and fiber of your choice. Ours come kitted with Vineyard Merino Wool to match the beautiful blue and white gingham hand-painted design.
After you are finished stitching you can leave the backing flap as is but we suggest securing the backing flap. Kathy recommends usings Aleene's Tacky Glue. After glueing, lay the collar flat with a heavy object on it while the glue dries. Follow the directions on the glue for drying time.
There you have it!
Every well-loved dog needs a needlepoint dog collar, don't you think?
xoxo
