I read yesterday in Needlepoint Retailer magazine that May is National Needlework Month.
The origin of needlepoint takes us back thousands of years to when ancient Egyptians used slant stitches to sew canvas tents. While needlepoint began as a necessity to provide adequate shelter, it has evolved into a beloved leisure activity and art form.
A few years ago I found a brilliant article, A Quick History Lesson on History on Needlepoint: From Necessary to Noble to Novel, and I want to share it with you. Happy reading!
