Straight Up

It's not uncommon for new stitchers often pull their needlepoint canvas too tightly, leading to warped projects that are difficult to block.

Striking the right tension is crucial; while tight stitches are more common, loose ones can also be problematic. To help keep the canvas straight, consider these tips:

  1. Use stretcher bars to minimize warping.
  2. Employ the basketweave stitch, especially for backgrounds, as it helps maintain canvas shape.
  3. Ensure correct technique with the Continental stitch, distinguishing it from Half Cross Stitch by following the appropriate direction based on your stitching row.
